DoT to hive off VSNL's 773-acre surplus land (ET)The Department of Telecom (DoT) has decided to hive off the surplus land of divested public sector firm VSNL into a stand-alone company, paving the way for its eventual disposal that could fetch the government at least Rs 10,000 crore (around $2 billion).
BSNL garners 40,000 3G customers (BS)State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has got around 40,000 customers for its 3G services. The company is also offering free migration to 3G services from August 15. BSNL started rolling out 3G services in north and east zones in February 2009.
