The DoT asked the Cabinet Secretary to quickly take a final view on the issues related to spectrum vacation by the Defence forces in order to speed up the 3G auction process. The DoT is taking steps for the auction of 3G spectrum at the earliest since this auction.
DoT turns down Etisalat, Allianz Infra merger proposal (HBL)
The Department of Telecom has shot down a proposal from Etisalat DB Telecom to merge Allianz Infratech with itself on grounds that there is a three-year lock-in on the new operators.Both Etisalat DB and Allianz Infratech had got licences in 2008.
Govt auditors submit special report on RCom (BS)
Auditors appointed by the government to look into violation of revenue reporting norms are understood to have submitted the report on Reliance Communications (RCom) and their findings on other telecos would follow in the coming weeks.
